How much should you be paying for a website?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question for websites.

It all depends on what you want and what you want the website to achieve for you. But those consideration are topics for another blog post. Here I will simply give you some guidelines.

For a good quality, professional-looking website for a small to medium sized business, expect to pay in the region £500 to £1000. Hosting and maintenance will cost extra. These days, website platforms such as WordPress and builder systems such as Divi allow web designers to produce professional-looking sites with considerably less effort than it would have taken a few years ago.

An eCommerce system with around 20 products in it should cost a bit more – in the region of £1000 to £1500.

Don’t accept the first quote you get. Don’t just go for the cheapest either. Do your research and look carefully at what’s being offered. Ideally you want a web designer to work closely with you, get to know and take an interest in your business.

As part of your research, take a look at what we can offer. Start by looking at our Online Quote Builder ( and, if you want to find out more, email me at [email protected] or call on 01568 609800 for an informal chat.
